One of these days is the 14th of February, Valentine’s Day. In the social media world, days like these are the perfect opportunity to promote different aspects of your brand to your fan base, all while making use of an idea that has been around for decades. How will Facebook’s Graph Search affect users?

Posted on: January 21, 2013 by admin

facebook graph searchAt the beginning of January, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg invited members of the press to their California headquarters for the Social Media giant’s next big announcement. Over the course of the next few days, theories ran rampant, with some analysts predicting the unveiling of a Facebook smartphone, ‘Facebook for Cars’, and various other user interface changes.

On the day of the press conference, Wednesday 16 January, Zuckerburg announced the ‘Graph Search’ tool that is to be introduced to Facebook. This tool allows users to identify more in depth search terms, and promises to yield more accurate results than before. Along with the internal Facebook search, Bing (the search engine alternative to Google) will display web results based on the terms used if the internal search doesn’t yield definitive results.

The impact on this has been the center...

There are a few key methods that you will need to avoid using in order to catch the attention of your followers, and some basic tips that will help you develop an online style that is suitable for both your company as a whole, and your Twitter campaign.

Facebook aims to cut out fake ‘Likes’ on Pages

Posted on: November 14, 2012 by admin

Social media giant Facebook announced at the end of August that it would be clamping down on its Pages, which (ideally) allows businesses to gauge how many fans they have and gives them a better idea of demographics.

Recently, it has become more common for companies and individuals to resort to generating Likes for these pages in ways that may violate Facebook’s terms and conditions. For instance, links that promise free giveaways if users like and share their pages are often nothing more than marketing gimmicks. Other ways of generating likes en masse include spamming the Wall’s of other pages, creating fake user profiles and generating fraudulent links that force users to like a page when it is clicked.

Facebook officials have said that their new security systems will give users the opportunity to “authentically” subscribe to...

The validity of Google+

Posted on: November 14, 2012 by admin

However, it still seems to be lacking something in terms of power, especially while it is being compared to the giants of the social media world, such as Facebook and Twitter. The problem is that Google+ may have entered into a market that is so involved in social media, that every new product that pops up is directly compared, regardless of whether or not it actually fits the bill.

Posted on: October 15, 2012 by admin

Google PlusSocial media has all but taken over our lives. Everything from our morning exercise routine and drive to work, to our dinners and what we’re watching on television gets broadcast to everyone we know, and some people that we have never met.

As much as it is a personal affair, social media has also become one of the leading marketing tools for businesses, big and small. This is partly due to the enormity of the connection that can be established, the sheer number of active users at any given time, and also comes as a result of the immediacy that the internet and mobile socializing has done.

Google+ is one of the newer social media networks (at least in terms of the giants), but already has a...

How to centre align your Twitter background!

Posted on: October 10, 2012 by admin

Twitter has now added the functionality for centre-aligning your background image! After years of begging for this feature, many micro-bloggers will be very glad at this new development.   Quite frankly, it’s surprising it has taken them this long. Until recently all twitter background would align to the top left, which is very frustrating because the reset of the website aligns to the centre. Basically it mean that whatever graphic you used for your background looked very different for every person that viewed it depending on their screen size.   But enough ranting from me, let’s get down to the “how to centre-align my twitter background” part of this article. Well it couldn’t be easier. From your home screen on twitter click on the “gear” button on the task bar at the top of your screen, and from the drop down menu click on “Settings”.     Once there, select the “Design” menu option on the...
